How a healthy project sounds

Being a project manager taught me one simple truth: you can track KPIs, measure ROI, polish dashboards and still have no idea whether your project is alive or already decomposing in production

Projects can share tech stacks, frameworks and delivery rituals — but their health? That’s never replicated

A man sitting on a chair on a wild field when a bull runs towards him

A healthy project isn’t visible. You feel it long before you can prove it

It’s like waking up without pain — you don’t celebrate, you check if you’re still alive

Metrics don’t lie. They just don’t tell the truth you actually need

– NPS doesn’t reflect customer reality

– 99.9% uptime can hide a dying infrastructure

– a backlog full of “completed” tasks can be a cemetery of fake progress

So if this is noise — what’s the signal?

There are only three reliable indicators of project health. No dashboards. No theatre. Just reality

1. Accounting

If you don’t understand your customer’s business, you’re not building a product — you’re decorating a liability. The platform might be yours, but the constraints are defined by their marketing, finance, logistics, procurement and cash flow. When these pieces don’t align, the project isn’t “risky” — it’s already terminal. Misalignment here kills silently, and always faster than the codebase does

2. Resources

Budget isn’t a resource. It’s a coping mechanism

A real resource is the absence of a single point of failure

When your entire codebase depends on one backend engineer who just bought a farm and turns off his phone after sunset — that’s not a team. That’s assisted suicide documented in JIRA

Projects don’t collapse when money ends. They collapse when responsibility bottlenecks into one human

3. Communication

Communication isn’t information. It’s alignment

Talk to your team — you’ll hear fear before you see burnout

Talk to your customer — you’ll detect denial before any metric catches it

Look at your numbers — you’ll notice where the bodies are buried

A misaligned project doesn’t fail loudly. It fades into dysfunction long before anyone admits it

Project health isn’t a number. It’s a pulse

When it weakens, you feel it first. By the time you can measure it — it’s already too late

Менше балачок — більше прибутку. Збудуємо реальну систему!
